Musician’s Cooler LogoJust did one of my first interviews with a world-renowned podcaster by the name of Jammin Dave Jackson.

Dave hosts a show called the Musician’s Cooler that regularly gives away tons of great info in the form of audio podcasts you download right to your iPod.

(Perfect for those long roadtrips between gigs.)

I got into podcasts a few months back when I discovered I had 30+ Gb of free space left on my Video iPod, and didn’t know how to fill it. That and I’m just always hungry for good content.

They say you are the sum total of the 5 people you spend the most time with, so for the past few weeks, I’ve been soaking up as much knowledge from Jammin Dave as I could, listening to all the archived podcast episodes. I highly recommend you check it out.

So here’s my interview with Dave. He called me up and grilled me for a half hour on everything I’ve learned in my 365 days. Just push play!

Or you can download the whole show

Live Webcast Tonight :: Take 2

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

I’ve got to apologize to everyone who tried to tune in to my big 07-07-07 webcast of the Independence Day Bash in Hermosa Beach, CA. Most likely, you didn’t quite get what you expected…

We had the full band there, and everyone played their little hearts out. Those who were within speaker-distance of us listened more and more closely as the set went on, and by the end everyone begged us to play some more.Independence Day Bash, 07-07-07

But for those of you who tuned in via the web, we failed to “turn on” the computer microphone, and so even though lovely Brittany was videoing the whole thing, you didn’t get any audio.

LET’S TRY AGAIN! I’ve got another show booked TONIGHT (07/14/07) at Kulak’s Woodshed, which is famous for their TV-Studio-Like webcasts. I guarantee this one will have audio! PLUS, there’s a special bonus:

My friends from Mandi’s Reckoning Crew will be backing me up.

  • Don Peake, famous for his guitar riff on “Let’s Get It On” and his work with Ray Charles, among many other greats
  • Alex Del Zoppo, who’s band Sweetwater was the first to play at Woodstock in 1969
  • Voyce McGinley, fresh off his European tour with Cirque du Soleil

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to catch these living legends together on one stage! You can attend in person, or watch the live webcast tonight, beginning at 8pm PST/11pm EST.

DAY 365 - i quit

Saturday, July 7th, 2007

Exactly 365 days ago, I threw myself whole-heartedly into an industry I knew nothing about.

Don’t get me wrong; I knew a good bit about playing the guitar and writing songs, and I knew in my heart that playing music for people is one of the greatest jobs in the world. But I didn’t know squat about how the industry really worked. It’s terribly glamorous, until you dig a little deeper.

Nevertheless, you’ve seen me shamelessly broadcast my plans to the world. You’ve seen me learn how to build a website, how to develop a mailing list and build a following of interested fans. As of today, 07-07-07, nearly 120,000 of you have logged in to see what this crazy pipe dream was all about.

I learned how to edit video, and you’ve seen me drag my camcorder around the U.S. with me for the majority of the year. I gave you a behind-the-scenes glimpse into me, my life, and my mission to make it as a singer/songwriter in the crazy mixed-up world of the modern music industry. More than 3,000 of you have seen my silly “Nick’s Journey” videos on YouTube, MySpace, Revver, LiveVideo, Google, and on this very site.

On top of that, you’ve seen me write (and re-write) 10 of the best songs of my life. With the help of music producer Mandi Martin (who I met in August of last year), I’ve put together an A-list band and also built a team around me to help create, market, and promote this record once it’s complete. I have put countless hours into this project, not to mention my own money, blood, sweat, and tears.

No, I don’t sleep much.

After a year of hard work, I’m proud to announce that

DAY 363 - the final countdown

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

clock.jpgI can’t believe it’s been a whole year already!

We’ve laughed. We’ve cried. We’ve had an unbelievable time and worked harder than we ever thought we could. We’ve also learned that the music industry is in trouble these days, and that getting a record deal is not all it’s cracked up to be. However, I’m happy to announce that the record is coming along soo well. I can’t wait for you all to hear it.

As I promised, there will be a live webcast on Saturday, 07-07-07. I’m playing a benefit concert in Hermosa Beach, CA and will have the whole studio band with me that night to put on the show of my life. Also, we’ve got a SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT planned for the end of the show, so please tune in.

Thank you so much for your unending support.”

Please join me Saturday night at 9pm ET/8pm CT/6pm PT for a live webcast at www.nickdaugherty.com/webcast
